Jenny,
I think we have a hit. The Howat-James marriage is on my grandmother's (nee Hamilton). side. My grandmother (1869 to 1952) was Elizabeth Morton Hamilton and she is a grand-daughter of James Hamilton.
James and Sarah had 3 sons we know of ..Andrewb. 1787, James b.1789 and David b, 1799 d.1878. David had three wives and my grandmother was a daughter of the second, Eliz. Morton. Please e-mail me and can provide more info
