Re Robert Howat and Janet Baird of lanark ,I think his son
William may well have been my Great Great Grandfather ,
Recently tracing the Howat family line ,i came across information in the Kilwinning 1861 Census which confirms
that William was 47 in 1861 and was born in Fenwick Ayrshire ,which ties in with a birth date of 1815 for William who married a Janet Black in 1851 .
Their offspring included a Ephraim Howat born 1863 my Great Grandfather .
Don,t know if this is of any interest ,but would be interested in any information on the Howat family
