Dear Patrick: John Howat and Louisa Bowcott were my grandfather's(Robert John Howat)parents. I've just started researching and am seeking information about the Howats. I have John's parents as Jane/Jean Mitchell and James Howat. They,John and Louisa, immigrated to the USA about 1879 or so. I have William, a son, in the 1900 census. Is this the same William you wrote about as you are in England and he was in Clinton Iowa? When I was a child visiting my grandparents it seemed that there was a geneology and a round robin that went about between cousins. I hope to hear from you. annie
