We just found out today that our Janet Cowan who married James Howat in Lanark was the daughter of Thomas Cowan and Jean Dalzeil. Upon checking the Dalzell and Dalziel (her death certificate spelled it Dalzeil in 1874 in Park District of Lanark) Genforum, I found this possible brother since Janet was also married in Gorbals at about this same time:
My maternal grandmother was Annie Dalziel - dob: 1 August 1864 - Glasgow, Scotland. Annie married John Scott on 24 June 1892, Glasgow. Annie's parents were Robert Dalziel & Mary Howat - married 15 August 1847, Gorbals, Glasgow.
