The 1870 census for East Feliciano County, Louisiana reported this family:
Edward W. Howe / head / 32 yo b. NY
Hester Howe /wife / 30 yo b. NY
Zaida Howe / dau / 5 yo b. NY
Grace Howe / dau / 4 yo b. NY
Bertram Howe / son / 2/12th yo b. LA
C.W. Howe / brother / 23 yo b. NY
Then ten years later in 1880 there was this family enumerated in Chicago:
Edward W. Howe / head / 40 yo b. Maine
--- [Mrs] Howe / wife / 36 yo b. NY
Zaidee Howe / dau / 15 yo b. IL
Grace Howe / dau / 13 yo b. IL
Jennie Howe / dau / 8 yo b. IL
Later I find Zardee Pease in Madison, Wisconsin with two sons: Daniel and Warren. She apparently divorced her husband because in the 1905 State census for Madison she is marked with a 'D'.
Then she married Fred R. Hunt and returned to Chicago where they had a son.
What happened to Grace? There is a marriage record for Grace Howe and Daniel S. Lee in Chicago in 1893 but it doesn't look like the same Grace!
But most of all - what happened to Jennie? She is the one I am most intereted in! Did she m1 a Mr. Greer just after 1900 and have a son, Jefferson Elliot Greer b. 1905 in Chicago? By 1910 did she marry Hugo Charles Hauter also in Chicago? They had a son, Hugo junior. And finally she moved to Texas. Where she married a third time to Chester Geesey [or Gise?].
If there is anyone out there who can tell my anything about Jennie Howe, I would really like to know what you know!!
