The 1850 census gives ARIEL HOWE's place of birth as MAINE and his age is 37, which would put his birthdate about 1813. My ggggrandfather Thaddeus was born sometime between 1810 and 1814 in MAINE, so their ages are very close.

I haven't been able to go back further than Thaddeus (spelled Thaddaus in one census). When he married in 1844, he was already living in OHIO. His wife was from NY state. I don't know if he had any brothers or cousins that might connect us.
