There is good possibility that this John Howery was a son of Jacob Howry, founder of Howrytown, VA. If so, his mother's name was probably Christina Barbara Howry(maiden name unknown). He is probably the John Howrey listed on the 1820 Ross Co. OH census, and possibly the John Howry listed on the 1810 Botetourt Co. VA census. If he isn't a son of Jacob Howry then he may have been a German immigrant. There is a mention of him being from Germany written somewhere that I can't put my hands on now. However, on at least one of his childrens later censuses their father's birth place was listed as VA. Hope this helps.
