Nancy 'Howery' / 'Howerton' - Martin Cox
Posted by: Kenneth A. Lester Date: May 14, 2001 at 05:18:55

I am researching the possibility that "Howery' and 'Howerton' are derivative surnames between the two. Vague memory serves a related Duncan Family relative, and it is recalled that Nancy 'Howerton', who married Martin Cox (in 1812 - Guilford County, North Carolina) could have been Nancy 'Howery'. In a database within the Duncan research material, Nancy's surname is listed as 'Howricon'.

Nancy was born 1795-1801 in Buckingham County, Virginia. Martin was born about 1799 in Surry County, North Carolina.

"Howerton' research reflects that this Nancy is Nancy 'Howerton' but the variance of 'Howery' has not been explored.

Does this sound familiar to any Howery researchers?

Thanks for your guidance and response/s.

Kenneth
