Hello Willie.
Got your reply and thought I would ask if you have come across a William Hill Howitt b 1829 and served with the 71 highland regiment,last known address Kirk street Strathaven in 1891 age 62.I havent been able to find his death.He was a chelsea pensioner I believe.Incidentally there were a couple of other Howitts in Strathaven but I couldnt connect them perhaps you can.
