Thanks for answering, Don. I'm beginning to think we're not of the same Howitt line. I don't recall any James Howittin our lineage. We have an Elizabeth (Bessie) who was one of eight children of Robert and Margaret. She married Hugh Campbell and they had an Elizabeth who married a Murdoch. However, they were from the Glasgow area - Cambuslang, in particular, and they were coal miners and cotton weavers.
