Dear Jeanne,
Thanks for replying so soon. I was suprised to see the spelling of Samuel's wife's name. - Jane Rae - on all the census records I have it is shown as Jeanie or Jean Renee. They probably couldn't read her writing! The information I have on Samuel's immigration is a little sketchy. Were he and Jane Rae married in Scotland or were they married in the US? My information shows that Andrew came to the US in 1904 and Samuel in 1907 (but he was alone). On the ship manifest he was coming to live with his brother, Andrew. I have another manifest that shows a Jeannie Howitt traveling with 4 children to meet her husband Samuel in US. Of course, it could be a completely different person. On DAn's side of the family, his grandfather Andrew had 5 children: Robert (Dan's father), Anna, Marge, Blanche, and Cliff. Aunt Marge is the only one still living. She is almost 90 years old and still lives in Cleveland. How many of Samuel's children are still alive, if any? I am interested in knowing about Samuel and Andrew's grandparents. That is going back pretty far! Please send me all the information you have and I can give you copies of what I have. You are welcome to email me at Howitt44@yahoo.com. I can then give you my mailing address if that would be easier. Thanks so much, Jeannie!
Cindy
