JOhn G. Howse married Margaret Harriet Shields on August 18, 1835. She was born Sept 13, 1813. She was the daughter of James and Charity Beavers Shields. John was a Justice of the Peace in the Rockwell Community in Jackson County, Georgia. (The area where he lived is now Barrow County). He and Harriet had nine children, James Lawrence, John Harris, William LaFayette, Henry Jackson, Marcus Cicero, Mary Jane, Margaret Elizabeth, Frances Caroline, and Missouri Ann. Mary Jane and James Lawrence both died in childhook. William and Henry both died in service of the Confederate Army.
John G., Harriet and a number of their children are buried in the Howse Family Cemetery in Barrow County, Georgia.
