Hi Chris,
I am just now finding your message to me; hope you are still researching and will get back to me.
I have just recently talked to an Otis Weeden, of the RI Indian Weeden line, who confirmed my suspicions of an SC/RI
connection to my tri-racial WEEDENS,WHILDENS,WEELDONS/BROWNS of SC, NC,VA, MN, TN, KY,
CT, and NY.
FIND that many RI surnames may connect, but fail to find just how; among them are: HOXIE/HOXSIE, ALBRO, BROWN, LANE,
PERRY-----------have no clue WHY folks won't share more, but they seem to be loath to give any info.
Know that some RI slavers removed to Charleston, SC, AND,
there are just too many similarities of names in RI/SC, to
dismiss a connection, and I am not so sure that my mulatto
ggrandmother, CHARATA BROWN was not born in RI, rather than
NC 1833 as She is listed.
Perhaps you can be of help w/more info; hope to hear from
you.
Warm regards,
carol wheeldin warren.
