Asa Hubbard daughter Mary
Posted by: Donna Crawford (ID *****9748) Date: May 28, 2012 at 12:19:10

I have a Mary Hubbard in my family tree, she married Capt. James Smith. I also have a letter (from internet) written by Amanda Smith Stewart (granddaughter of James Smith and Mary Hubbard) to her grandson Hiram in 1868. The information in the letter contradicts the iformation in several family trees found online. In all the family trees I find the Mary Hubbard who married James Smith is said to be the daughter of Jeremiah Hubbard and Alice Shailer but in this letter Amanda says her grandfather was James Smith born May 19, 1738 and married at 21 to Mary Hubbard , the daughter of Asa Hubbard of Haddam, Ct. I am confused and don't know which is correct. Other than the letter I have no proof either way, just the information from other family trees. Any help is appreciated. You may e mail me direct if that is more convenient at
