Beverly,
Most of my info comes from the census where the age of the individual is given. Depending if the person ask, rounds it off, when the census is taken etc. I put an age of about in the text which would be +/- 1 yr.
Mahala Mahar's mother was Sarah Dunbar and yes they were Denbow's in the area. I have Sarah's family. I usually put in Dunbar (Denbow) since various records give both surnames, and I have been told by other family members that the correct name is Dunbar and the record backs them up. I mistakenly concluded that Denbow was a name changed to Dunbar as many names were.
The Huckins are confusing as to their origins which seem to be New Hampshire. A mormon record exists on the LDS which is incorrect. I mention that since many may be influenced by it as I was. Harald Huckins straightened me out on that point and has a deed of transfer of land between Luke Kelley, in Lubec, and the early Huckins.
My interest in the Huckins is the Mahar's. I am documenting the generations of Mahala Mahar's Grandfather Edmund Mahar Many of the Huckin's family in Lubec married descendants of Edmund Mahar either through Mahar, Leighton etc. You cannot neglect the corrollary families and must find good information on them.
