I thought that I`d found the son, WILLIAM, of JOHN & ANN HUGGANS, born 20 June 1827, bpt 22 March 1828, Co.Cavan, Ire. In the Canada 1881 Census, but dismissed it as William was said to be born in Ontario. But now I have second thoughts. Mainly because of what Alison Causton wrote in her email7 Dec 2003, ARMAGH, William HUGGINS & SARAH PUE.
Firstly Alison had found an Ontario death certificate for 9 June 1927, age 56 yrs and 8 months, for a JAMES THOMPSON HUGGINS, Thompson being a maternal surname for the Huggins line in Glenarb townland, Co Tyrone and also Co Armagh, Ire.
Secondly James`s son Frederick Huggins had given the information for the death registration. Mother of Frederick was Sarah Pue.
Interestingly, William`s brother John Huggins and wife Jane, in Co Cavan, called their second son JOHN FREDERICK HUGGINS, born 19 Nov 1854, sadly his father died 29 Jan. 1854, age 34. Jane Huggins may have just realised she was pregnant.
I wonder who the ancestor is with the christian name, Frederick?
No proof, but I think this is our missing William Huggins in Monahan South, Peterborough West, Ontario, Canada.
That the info for the birth place of William Huggins as Ontario, is incorrect.
If this is the right WILLIAM HUGGINS, then it means there maybe a connection between the TYRONE & ARMAGH HUGGINS`S and the Cavan HUGGINS`S of Portlongfield. I think that Lord Farnham, Co Cavan, get`s a mention in an old document to do with JOHN HUGGINS in Genarb, so Lord Farnham could also own land in that area and it wouldn`t be unusual for the Huggins`s to move from one townland or another with same land lord, I would think? Also to lease town lands in different counties, then sub-lease, but live in a different area.
What do you think Alison?
This site is starting to act, like my diary.
