Marie,
Many of the Hughsons in the Revolution can not really be identified because the families used many of the same names
over and over. If they were alittle more original with names it would be easier to figure out who everyone was.
The William Hughson (b 1762) you name looks to be the William Hughson who married Penelope Codwise @ 1785. He comes from the same line as my husband.
The Huson name is easier to find. Most of them in this area changed their name from Hughson because of the Rev. War. If the info that I have found on them is correct, I have been able to place many of them in families with limited info.
The Gabriel Hughson seems to be the only one by that name.
So he was born @1738, son of: 2. Richard and Elizabeth Hughson 1. Thomas and Maria Dobbs. The rest of the people named are common names in the family with the exception of Walter and Robert. The only Walter that may fit was born abt. 1726 in Dutchess County. That would make him around 50, but the rest were not alive at the correct period of time. Robert, 2 possibilities: 1)born 1739 2) born 1762. Both lived in Dutchess County, but no mention of military service for either of them.
