Garret or Gerard - later Jarret

I am descended from John Garret or Gerard born about 1640 at Little Stretton Shropshire England. The family later became known as Jarrett. There is some feeling in the family that the family were Huguenots and that they originally came from Eastern Europe before being expelled by the French.

I have the family tree from John Garret to our current generation and would be most interested if anyone had any information on this matter.

I have John's wife as Elizabeth Near (or Dear?) and family as Elinor, John (our line), Thomas,Francis, Richardus,Martha, and Edvardus.
