HUGUENOT as Surname ??
Posted by: Felix Unger Date: January 20, 2000 at 11:18:08

I'm just checking here - to date (Jan 20/2000) I see two postings asking about OTHER surnames which are Huguenot.

I believe this Forum is for those WITH the actual surname of HUGUENOT.

I see 17 in the USA phone listings and only 1 in Canada.

Would this surname have been adopted in the past 500 years by those of the Huguenot faith, rather than being a proper name with a history of thousands of years ? Something like "John the Baptist" becoming John Baptiste ? Thus, Robert the Huguenot becomes Robert Huguenot ?

Those wanting to check out OTHER surnames that don't yet have their own Forums could go to the COUNTRIES Forum and ask questions under GERMANY, SWITZERLAND, FRANCE, HOLLAND, BELGIUM, UK, etc. which have lots of information about those of the Huguenot faith and where they settled.
