Is the Mariendorf you refer to near Berlin? The reason I ask is that one of my ancestors, Justine Bodin lived in Heiligensee (now part of Berlin) in the early 1800's. I know almost nothing about the family but, from the surname, I suspect a Huguenot origin.

Brandenburg-Prussia was one of the places that welcomed Huguenot refugees when the Edict of Nantes was revoked and they were forced to flee france. I understand many of the ones who made it into eastern Germany settled in and around Berlin.
