William DeForest was listed in the Louisville, KY City Directory of 1832 as a steamboat pilot. The U.S. Federal Census says he was born in PA around 1770-1780. Who were his parents? I believe the trail comes from Northern France to New Amsterdam 1636, then on to CT, PA, KY and MO. Thanks for your help.
