I am also related to the James Huitt family. My ggrandfather was John Wesley Huitt born 1835 in Crawford Co., MO. He was married twice (1)mary/Eliza Jane Coleman 8 July 1854; and (2) Martha (Shipton) Whitehead who was also married before. They lived in the Doniphan, Mo. area where they ran a sawmill.
I hope this info is correct. I just got my computer this past week. My grandfather was Wesley D. Huitt, but he went by the name of Mike, and his tombstone says Mike Huitt. He married my grandmother Ollie Dye in Ripley Co., Mo,on July 28, 1897 under the name of Mike Huett. If this information helps you in some way please let me know. I know very little about the Huitt's as my father divorced my mother when I was seven. I so know the names of his sisters tho and some of my cousins.
