I have in my notebook, Jonathan and Elizabeth Hulan moved to TN from NC in 1851. Their forth child, Serena Hulan (later Carlton) told of coming over the mountains at age 15 from North Carolina. The family dog was asleep under the wagon and when they started out one morning, was run over and hurt so bad, they couldn't bring themselves to kill it, and left it beside the road. The dog later caught up with them.
The records show most of their children were born in NC, and the last ones born in TN.
