I visited George and Emma Gower Hulans grave...

I went to the Hulan Cemetery. It is very obvious where the graves are even if they are not marked because the ground is sunken. The only marker that remains is the oldest one-George Washington Hulan and Emma Gower Hulan. One was stolen within the past year. I believe it was Archie and Matilda's. Martha Sue Hulan agreed with Henryetta's list. There are 13 family members buried there.

My Mother remembered her Grandparents (Archie & Matilda Hulan) had a log cabin near where the cemetery is now. that is where he raised his sons. One of his sons, My Grandfather, William Preston Hulan, built two houses that are currently occupied on Hulan Hollow Road. His son, John Preston lives in one. His Grandaughter, my cousin, Lynette Hulan lives in the newer one. William Preston Hulan's wife was Frances Evans Hulan. Hence, Evans Road.

If you want to visit this one, put on your hiking boots and take your cell phone in case you get lost!

Directions from Downtown Nashville: I-40 West to exit 199. Turn right onto Old Hickory Blvd. Turn left onto Charlotte Pike. Look for Wheatfield Drive (google 7480 Charlotte 37209). Turn right onto W Running Brook Road. Turn right onto Haley Hope Road. You will have to park and walk up the hill toward the woods from there. If you go behind the first house in the circle road, you will have to go into the woods and just to the right, is the cemetery. It had a small rock fence ages ago. A few years ago, someone put up a wire fence but its hardly visable now.
