we have in Hulen files 11 kids for the older Osbourne first 2 being Wm & Sarah, that is a clue. also he witnesses deed from Wm to Turner in 1832. So he is tentatively a s/o that wm.
Re: race, the items i have seen referred to say FCP or FPC free people of Colour. that meant often anyone not WASP looking. Jews, Italians, Arabs, greeks, any dar mixed blood Indian in civilized areas. But also free Negros The w
of course. That was back in Halifax Co NC.

The western Texas Hulens until recently were very insistent on "black Dutch" now admit to Indian ancestry.
There is another Franklin CO MO Hulan a Wm J. s/o jonath. s/o Jonath (1787-1875) NC to Anderson Co Tenn.
True the Osbourne/Ausborn as first name etc starts in in Franklin CO in late 1790s in several families.
