Marjorie, I've found two versions of this page. http://users.rcn.com/lmerrell/hurlbert.html This genealogy was researched by Dick Atkinson of Alabama. Some resources used are the Griswold manuscript on file at the National Genealogical Society, 4527 17th Street North, Arlington, Va 22207-2399 and "The Hulbert Family 1305 With The Ancestry of Walter Hulbord, Thomas Hulbert and William Hulbert" by Henry Carlton Hulbert. Records from Warren Moses Hulbert to present generations are on file at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Hillsboro, Il. Records gathered will soon be placed in the Nokomis Library in Nokomis, Montgomery County, Il. Now, ONE or more of these is the source of this statement; this is the other web page that mentions it. Obadiah represented his mother's interests in Howard lands. I tried to track most of these sources down. The National Genealogical Society closed their library and sent most of the material to Daughters of the American Revolution. DAR's library catalogue is online, and they must have twelve manuscripts on Griswolds. I need more information. I can't find Dick Atkinson of Alabama. I tried to call every Dick or Richard Atkinson with a listed phone number in the state. I asked someone - I think the owner of the other web site - for more information and they never answered. I've heard repeatedly that Henry Hulbert's book is a fraud, I think specifically because it tries to combine the three New England Hulbird families and includes a fraudulent English genealogy developed by someone else. Hulbird's, Hulet's (of any of all three families) and Whitakers seem to all be a remarkably opinionated bunch. The book could have correct or atleast standard info on more recent Hulbird lineages, and I wonder if it has anything on Hannah (Whitaker) Hulit or on Obadiah defending his mother's interests in Howard lands.
