have sizabe file on Hulens. My gm was one & we had reunions in Clarkesville untilthis year.
This James is son of Orren Hulen, s/o Arthur.
Art had #s of kids & 3? wives & is said to be given as FCP in Halifax early(have not found that one). other sons of art are Wyatt(to E.texas)Wm(son Tom to E.Texas & Hiram, the latter had 3 sons executer for refusal to serve in CSA. so Wyatt was a uncle to James, Tom a first cousin
I have lttle else on Epps(tho I was told once w/ NFD that his mother was a Hulen) & your data has already unsquirreled the Chickasaw nation 1900 census data. The TN Hulens have acknowledged Indain ancestry for sometime. mine in E,Texas would not until recently tho many are dark with grey eyes. This has been considered a Creek/mixed blooded trait .
We have been accepted for membership in Cahaba Creek Tribal Assco. --a NON-BIA tribe. Logic stated As the elders refused to be govt Ondoans from 1700 down to 1910, why give the feds an edge now? tho some in 1890 did go to Okla & sign up as Muskogee Creeks.
How are you connected. contact me at Overtonsonly@hptmail.com so I we can swap files.
also in 1880 there are 2 hulens in Cooke co. an H. b. 1846 & Wm J. of Missouir? who seems to be s/o Jonathan of the Tenn bunch!?
we have some fun work here.
James was in Army? Mollie married Robert tate 1875 Lamar Co.
