Nancy,
As far as I know my George P Hulen's daughter married into a family that was strongly against slavery so I speculate he was too. From other postings of families related to ours they were against slavery. There are also other postings on this family about possible Indian heritage. I will say from pictures and present living descendants (my line) that could be very possible. Also on Roots Web they show another son that I could not find in census (son to James and Lucinda). Tell your daughter to feel free to contact me. Robin
