What information do you have? I am also trying to figure out this family (we spell it Hulen). I have information back through NC into about 1681 in Bristol Parrish, VA where a William Hulone (Hulen) as born and married "Mary" (Elizabeth Swain?). The Hulens in NC were congregated in Wilks County. And yes, I believe that they were "mixed"; possibly of an ethnic group referred to as "Mulengons"-not sure if the spelling is correct. This premis would fit based on the history of the Mulengons and their migratory habits. Also would make sense, seeing as I can't find the name on any of the passenger lists from England, etc. The family originated in France, and were Hugenots (Protestants), according to my grandmother. I would be happy to trade information with you!
