DECEMBER 26, 1940

Mrs. J.E. Roach, 67, died at her home in Chatsworth this morning at 6:10 o'clock, following a three months' illness. The immediate cause of death was attributed to heart disease.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, December 18th, in Saints Peter and Paul's church with Revs. Phillip Markey, of Chatsworth; M.A. Coffey, of Strawn; and C.J. Williams, of Piper City, officiating. burial will be in the Chatsworth cemetery, where her mother and sisters, Josephine and Lucy, are buried.
Lillian Hull was born in Kentland, Indiana, January 11, 1873, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Hull, both deceased.
Following her marriage to John E. Roach she came to Chatsworth February 28, 1901, and continued an honored citizen of the village since that time. She was engaged in the millinery business at Fairbury and later in Chatsworth, until 1921, when she sold her businesss and since then has led a private life.
She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the Catholic church and of the Daughters of Isabella. For many years she was prominent in the affairs of the Woman's Club until illness compelled her to give up her activities.
During the long illness of her hussband she has been a faithful companiion and nurse. He heath began to break several months ago and for some time it was evident that the end was approaching.
Her two sisters and a brother, William, all preceded her in death. Surviving are the husband and one son, Emmet, and many friends.
