Hi

For what it's worth, I can now trace David Hume the philosopher back to the Homes of Blackadder

Specifically, based on a family line on Rootsweb for the Ahnentafel for David Hume, his family goes back to Sir John Home of Blackadder and wife Mary Dundas. Apparently one of John's daughters, Margaret Home, married John Hume from Ninewells. This gave rise to David Hume's line in 5 generations

Genealogically, this gets me nowhere, but my nephews will be ecstatic, and less dismissive of genealogy
