Hello Debbie, great to hear from you.
I have learned a lot since my original posting back in '04 but haven't had the time to update my website. I will be happy to pass along all I know. But in short, here is what I can tell you about your query.
We are distant cousins. Our Humrickhouse line has been traced back to Germany (although that country didn't exist back then).Their town is very close to the Dutch border.Other cousins have visited the town, taken pictures, and created a website.
Your grandfather, John C Humrickhouse was born in 1877 (IN). His father was Jasper Bryner Humrickhouse born in 1843 (IN).His father was John Larimer Humrickhouse born 1817 (OH). His father was Jacob Humrickhouse born 1788 (VA).This is where our lines cross as Jacob is also my g-g-g-grandfather.
Jacob had another son younger than John Larimer Humrickhouse named Ebenezer who had a son named John Charles H.That is where my "John C" comes from.Helen, John's youngest daughter was my grandmother.A very educated and beautiful woman, always wearing pearls.
This family has a very interesting history, including a soldier that served under Washington when he crossed the Delaware to fight the Hessians.
The immigration date is 1748 aboard the ship "Judith". (That is a very early date to sail across the Atlantic!!) The earliest Humrickhouse (or Homrighausen) in my database was born in 1652.
I'll be happy to share what I have.Look forward to hearing from you. With regards, your cousin Scott.
