Mare, the information on the website: http://hunter-dna.comhttp://hunter-dna.com may be of some help. If you know living Hunter surname males that you know are related to you (share a Hunter male ancestor), their dna should be the same or very similar to their male ancestors - up to ca. 10 generations back. If they were to submit a DNA sample (cheek swab) for analysis - by comparison with a worldwide data base and as data accumulates in the Hunter Surname DNA Project - you may be able to identify Hunters elsewhere that have the same dna and thus genetically share a common ancestor. Looking for records in those Hunter lines, or in the area where they have lived, will likey be more productive than looking at random. Perhaps the above may help many who are having difficulty in tracing their Hunter ancestors - now or in the future. Sincerely, Claude Hunter
