Hi Treena

I came across an Aleaxander Hunter (1787 -1878) of The Green, Dunmurry, who married Barbara Steen in Kathleen Rankin's book "Linen Houses of the Lagan Valley". Their children are listed under the Hunter Family Tree as:

- William Steen Hunter (1812-1863) m Anna Orr of Genalina
- James Steen Hunter of The Green, Dunmurry (1817-1898)
- Alexander Hunter (South Africa but no other details)
- John Hunter (1826 - 1886)

No mention is made of any further decendants of the above in the tree. So it is interesting to see that you appear to be researching the children of William Steen Hunter of Duneight House. It would be great to hear where these Hunters are now settled and I would be keen to hear if you have any information further information on the Alexander Hunter who appears to have gone to South Africa.

I have been researching more closely the descendants of William Hunter (1777-1856) of Dunmurry House who was a brother to your Alexander Hunter (1787-1878). One of William's sons, a James Hunter (1810-1875) married Eliza Lindsay and at least three of their sons went to South Africa.

Also keen to hear how you have gone about tracing your links to this Family.

Best Regards
David
