Portrait of Harriet Sophia Richards, later Mrs. Daniel Huntington, 1841
The April/May 2010 issue of ANTIQUES magazine in an advertisement on p. 33 pictures a portrait dated 1841 of Harriet Sophia Richards who in the next year was to become Mrs. Daniel Huntington.
On their website the seller of this portrait says this of the portrait sitter:
"Harriet Sophia Richards, 'Sophie,' (1822-1893) was the daughter of New York City merchant Charles Richards and Sarah Henshaw. In 1842 Sophie married celebrated artist Daniel Huntington, who would serve as president of the National Academy of Design and trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Their only child, Charles Richards Huntington, was born in 1847."
This fine portrait should be made known to the Richards and Huntington families. I am scanning it in case any of the descendants might like a copy, either by email or by postal mail. Someone in the families ought to have it--it is too good to be missed by the families. It may not have extensive genealogy value, but it certainly does have a whole lot of family and historic value.

If it were a portrait of an early Pease family member, I'd certainly want someone to do the same for me.
