In Reply to: Three Sarah Hurlbuts, b 1670s, CT or MA by Gene E. Perkins of 302

John, Samuel and Joseph were brothers. See Families of Old Fairfield, Donald Lines Jacobus 1930-32. The Hurlbut Genealogy and, in turn, Stiles History or Wethersfield give partly erroneous accounts of the Hurlbut family. Thomas Hurlbut, the immigrant, had two wives. The Hurlbut Genealogy makes the error of including Thomas' second marriage as another generation. The three men you mention were sons by his first marriage to wife unknown. John(2) Hurlbut, (Thomas(1)) b. 8 Mar., 1642/3 m. 15 Dec., 1670 Mary Deming and had Sarah, b. 5 Nov., 1676 at Middleton, CT.
Samuel(2) Hurlbut, (Thomas (1)) b. say 1645 m. ?. I don't have his family but could easily have had a Sarah as you say.
Joseph (2) Hurlbut, (Thomas (1)) b. say 1653 and settled in Woodbury. He m. Rebecca ? I do not have his family. I thought I had copies of the data from the History of Ancient Woodbury, by William Cothren. You can check this out to verify your information as I think the book covers the Hurlbut family. This book is available on mail loan to members at the New England Historic Genealogical Society. Best of luck in your research.
