Among the children of Dr. James Hurlbut (1717-1794) and Abigail Hart (1723-1789)is John Hurlbut. My family records have him born 1757 in Berlin CT. He married Zillah Southwick (b. abt 1767 in MA) October 26, 1786 in Williamstown, MA. Among their children, Joseph Hurlburt was born September 15, 1787 in North Adams, MA. He wed Maria Shurtleff (b. November 16, 1802, Verona, NY) on October 30, 1822. He died April 16, 1861, Manchester, NY, and Maria died October 1, 1862, also in Manchester. Among their children, Nancy Hurlburt was born September 30, 1827, possibly in Oil City, PA. She married Dr. John Stafford (my g-g-grandfather, b. March 4, 1805, Manchester, NY) on September 14, 1845, in Manchester. Can anyone in the Hurlburt Forum either confirm or deny these findings?
