My Great-great grandmother Lillie Elena Bassham married a Gerald Hurlbut/Hurlbert in 1909 in Bisbee, Arizona. They raised Liliie's daughter Estella Marie Moore from a previous marriage. Gerald died in 1980/81 in Cliff, New Mexico. He would not be directly related to me, but an older daughter of Lillie's, my great grandmother Nellie Jewel Howerton who would have been 16 years old at the time of their marriage, told stories of going to an Indian School on a reservation in Oklahoma and actually believed herself to be part Native American. Trying to figure out where she got this notion, as neither side of her natural family has Native American roots. Thanks.
