I would love to see a copy of that photo.
I am not a Hurless per say but my G-G-G-Grandfather Frederick Lawyer said to be born in Germany (ca 1810) lived in Stark Co., Ohio, the Overholser (Overholtz) and Swearingen family did migrate to Whiteside County Illinois with them from Stark, Holmes and Tuscarawas Co, Ohio together sometime around 1851. Fred Lawyer's son William Lawyer (age 35 in 1880) is working for Cephas M. Hurless in 1880. William's brother Jacob Lawyer was my G-G-Grandfather. His daughter (my G-Grandmother) Mary Isadora (Dora) Lawyer married Charles Wellington Winney March 27, 1884 in Manning, Carroll County Iowa the same day in a double wedding Charle's sister Carrie Belle Winney married John Abner Swearingen. Abner R Hurless,Cephas M, Catherine and Rev. Parker Hurless all appear to have been siblings.
John Abner Swearingen's Aunt was Minerva Jane Swearingen married to Rev Parker Hurless. The Swaeringens came from Springhill TWP, Fayette Co., PA.
