While my line was Huson in Virginia, I understand that the Husons (Hughsons) in New York fell out over the Revolutionary War. The Husons were rebels while the Hughsons were loyalists. My GG grandfather's marriage license lists him as John B. Houston, but his widow who moved her brood to Illinois changed it back to Huson.
