I edited my prior message and I am sending this again to add my sources and to make things a little easier to understand.
I will use Hutchings however, I've found the surname spelled OCHIN HUTCHIN HUTCHEN HUTCHENS HUTCHINS HUTCHINGS in various Louisiana records.
Bryant/Briant Hutchings born Jan 10, 1831 in St. Landry Parish, LA was a son of William Hutchings, Sr. of North Carolina and Euphrosine Richard of Louisiana. Bryant Hutchings married Mary/Marie Adeline LeTeunier
