My great-great grandfather was named Augustave "Gus" Hitter. I have found out that sometime in the mid to late 1800's the name was changed to Hitter from Hutter and that it is German Ancestry. Gus's father was named Henry Hitter or Hutter and Henry's father was Frederick Hitter/Hutter. My great-grandmother was Grace Hitter Roman b. 1892. Her father Augustave "Gus" was born in 1871 and Frederick probably in the 1840's/1830's. I know nothing else about that family. Thank you, maybe if any of these names sound familiar someone can email me. Thanks.
