The HYDENS originated in England. An article in TYLER's QUARTERLY says the first ones came to Maryland, but that was based on an assumption.The first "documented" Hydens were in Stafford Co. VA in the early 1700's.There were two families; one was William & Mary Hyden, and the other was William & Lucy. Most Hydens descended from Wm & Mary.I descended from Wm & Lucy through their son, Daniel, who fought for Daniel Morgan's Rifle Brigade in the Revolutionary War.
