St. Brendan's/Change Islands NF Hynes Families
My family comes from St. Brendan's NF.
My paternal GG Grandparents were Thomas Hynes and Catherine
Hartry (later Hartery). They were married May 14, 1855.
The witnesses of the marriage were James Hynes and Margaret
Hartry, who themselves later married on Sept. 28th 1859. James and
Margaret's witnesses were Thomas and Anastasia Beresford.
Does anyone know if this was the case of 2 sisters marrying 2
brothers? Also, does anyone have any information about where the
Hartry's came from?
I think that Thomas Hynes' parents were either James Hynes and Betsy Noonan (James' 2nd marriage), married around 1825. OR he was the son of James and his first wife Rebecca Bryan, married in 1815 (any children from this union?). Does anyone have any information about where James Hynes came from (NF or Ireland) & where Betsy came from?
My GG Grandmother on my mother's side was Annie (Mary Ann) Hynes (previously Hinds or Hines?) from Change Islands, Notre Dame Bay, NF. She married Josiah Oake. I am looking for any information of any siblings or parents. I know that she had brothers: John, Bob (drowned in Twillingate NF). Bob had an adopted son, Jim White. I would appreciate any information!
