I got interested in John McCabe's Civil War service and found the following. In an earlier History of Appanoose County published in 1878 he is listed as serving in the 6th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry. I found that here and you can find it by doing a search on McCabe. It's on page 422: http://books.google.com/books?id=O5kUAAAAYAAJ&printsec=titlepage&source=gbs_summary_r&cad=0 A history of that unit during the Civil War is here: http://www.kansasguardmuseum.org/6ksvls.html He's also listed on the first page here as J.H. McCabe (the same as the book above) but with no designation of where he served. The age listed would be his age at enlistment. http://iagenweb.org/civilwar/books/logan/mil801.htm Notify Administrator about this message?
