I am seeking information about my ancestor, Hannah Smelser/Smeltzer, who was born in PA ca 1797 and traveled to Iowa (we think it was to Benton Co) about 1854 with her son, Levi Smelser. A piece in the 1887 Benton Co history regarding Levi mentions this migration. The same article also states that Hannah died on Nov. 29, 1856. Is anyone able to verify this date (with a source besides that county history) and tell me where her grave might be? The Smelser family had 'itchy feet' and Levi and his brother Ephriam were both in Benton County at various times.
My primary interest at this time is verifying Hannah's death date and finding the location of her death and burial.
