Richard Russell, born in late 1700s in NY

For some years I have been searching for the names of the parents of Richard Russell who was born at the very end of the 1700s in New York. Recently I discovered that during the state census of 1856, Richard Russell was living in Warren in Lucas County, Iowa. He was living in the household of his son Sidney Russell, 29, and Maryann, also 29: Sidney had been born in Ohio, Maryann in Vermont. "Coonlie," born about 1847 lived with them as did "Finita," [really Foretta] age 3. Apparently Richard and his wife were living separately; she was not dead although he was listed as a widower. (This family is hard to research.)

I knew that Richard's children were in and out of Iowa in pioneer times, but I had no idea that Richard came this far west. I do not know where or when he died.

Do any people in Lucas have ties to this family? Richard's wife was Permelia Deuel/Duel. Their children were Seneca D., Mary Ann, Jane, Sydney (who settled for a time in Lucas County), Edson, Eben, Adelia, and maybe Phebe, who might have married a Whitacre man. This list of children is probably not complete.

Any help appreciated!!!
