Greetings William, I am happy to provide you with the information I have compiled thus far via a variety of resources. H.G. Curtis [1847 OH] is/was my “1st cousin, 3 times removed” according to my FTM. As per the Lucas Co., IA Cemetery book, p. 244 LCGS publ]: Henley G. & Minora E. [Burr] Curtis & 3 deceased infant children are buried at Waynick Cemetery, Warren Twp, Lucas Co, IA, [as are many of the Curtis line, including my line, Lot/t Curtis & #1 wf, Mary [Chynoweth] Curtis] . Minora died May 28, 1885, 18 days after the death of her unnamed twin sons that were born/died[??] on May 20, 1885. HG died Feb 29, 1904, Prob Lucas Co., IA @ 56 years, 6 months, 19 days. I do not know If he ever re-married after Minora’s death. Henley G. “HG” Curtis was son of Thomas & Martha [Chynoweth*[1824 MD]] Curtis who Are buried at Waynick Cemetery, Warren Twp, Lucas County, Iowa, Row 3 #8. Lot Curtis [my line] was HG’s uncle, brother to Thomas. Lot married Mary Chynoweth[1821 MD], sister to his mother, Martha. The Chynoweths, including their brother Joseph[ 1819 MD] were ch. of Wm and Biddy [Turner] Chynoweth of England > OH. G. Curtis, who for many years was treasurer of this county, died eleven years ago.” HG had 8 siblings. In a news article of the Chariton Patriot on May 14, l873, H. G. was listed as a “Steward” in the Granges of Lucas Co, IA where other farmers, mostly his relatives and neighbors, of Warren Twp, Lucas Co, IA gathered to form an alliance to protect their farms, produce, & holdings. “Following the Panic of 1873, the Grange spread rapidly throughout the farm belt, since farmers in all areas were plagued by low prices for their products, growing indebtedness and discriminatory treatment by the railroads. Curtis 32 [farmer] Minora Curtis 26 // Next … History of Lucas County, Iowa [1881 year?], p. 719: "Burr, Milton J., post-office, Chariton. Born October 27, 1821, in Jefferson county, Ohio. Is of English and German descent. In 1836, he moved with his parents to Belmont County, Ohio, residing there until of age -- was educated in the common schools. Remained on the farm with his father until twenty-six years of age. Was married November 4, 1847, to Alcinda M., daughter of Joseph and Esther Bond, born July 31, 1824, in Belmont County, Ohio. In 1848 he moved to Tipton, Indiana, returned to Ohio same year, and went on a rented farm. Some years after, in connection with a brother, he put up a steam saw mill, and operated a coal mine at the same time. Came to Lucas county, Iowa in 1861, and located where he now resides, on fifty acres of raw land. Has since bought 130 acres; has ninety acres in home farm, under a high state of cultivation. Has extra good hedge fences, good house and barn, out-buildings, etc. In 1862, he and Lot Curtis put up a steam saw mill, which they run three years successfully. Has been county supervisor one and part of another term. He has the family biography of his ancestors for six or seven generations, with the coat of arms, constituting a record of which he may justly feel proud. he is a man of strong convictions, of more than ordinary ability. The Churning Family Tree (Owner: o2bu1) has more on this line.] // If you go to Genforum and search the Curtis surname, then, Lot [1823 OH] or Thomas Curtis or Lucas Co, IA, there are several entries that offer info about HG’s family, Their sister Harriet Curtis[1820 OH] m. Theodore Curtis[1816 VA] was also in Lucas Co, IA for a time before migrating westward to Butler Co., KS. Their mother [HG’s Gma] was Frances “Fannie” St. Clair[ 1792 VA], Dau of James Sinclair, Jr. [1772VA][aka St. Clair/ Sinkler,] & Catherine Hibbs [?]. Fannie m. James Curtis, Sr. b. VA, son of Barnabas Curtis]. [I haven’t found a link of Fannie to Gen.
