I am searching for info for Paul Nielsen/Nelsen born in Denmark abt. 1846. He married Jensine Marie Jensen/ Jensdatter in Denmark. They and their 11 mo son, Nels/Niels came to the USA in 1889. The first years they lived in Tyler, Mn. and then homesteaded in N.D. about 1896, supposivily Hettinger County. They lived in that area until about 1915, when Jensine died. They also lost a son, Holger, who was killed by a horse in 1915. After Jensine died, Paul moved his family back to Tyler, Mn. He placed some of his younger sons in an orphanage and his daughter, Helena Elizabeth, age 7 was placed in the home of Jensine's brother, Martin and Anna Jensen. Paul's other children are Nels/Niels, Peter Christian, Christina, Anton, Viggo, Herman and Carl. Paul died in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa in 1921. I have searched for Census records for the family in 1900 and 1910 in Hettinger County, N.D., but can't find anything. I wonder if Paul could be a middle name, but the family says Paul is his given name. Can anyone help me?
