Check out the following site and search for Heaney, Heney, Haney in Monroe County.

http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/vitalrecords/index.asp

Also run a search on Martin Heaney, in Vernon County, and click the search for possible spouse matches.

You'll find Martin and Luella Johnson married March 29, 1886 in Vernon County, Wisconsin and be able to order a copy of the record

Also search for Johnson Lewella, you'll find a birth record in Monroe county.

As you search, you have to think of many different ways the names might have been spelled.

As you work your way back in the census, you'll find Luella with her parents in the 1870 census in Monroe County, Wisconsin.

Then you can take the data you find there and go back to the vital records link I gave above, and find the marriage link for Luella's parents.

As Dick said, start with the info you know, and dig out all the records you can on that, then use that data to search back for the previous generation.

No indication of an Iowa link so far. However, there is an Iowa County in Wisconsin.

Here's a link for maps of Wisconin counties.
